Undergraduates Rate Their Experience

August 29, 2012

Results are in for the 2012 University of California Undergraduate Experience survey (UCUES). The survey covers most aspects of students' academic and co-curricular experience, including instruction, advising and student services.

Here are highlights of what UC Merced undergraduates who completed the survey in the spring say about their experience:

  • 87 percent somewhat to strongly agree that they belong on this campus
  • 80 percent somewhat to very often had a class in which the professor knew their name
  • 84 percent occasionally to very often raised their standard for acceptable effort due to high standards of a faculty member
  • 36 percent spend some time during their week in paid employment
  • 54 percent spend some time during their week performing community service or volunteer activities
