Literature Professor's Book Earns Award

Literature Professor Ignacio López-Calvo's book "Latino Los Angeles in Film and Fiction: The Cultural Production of Social Anxiety" won second place in the International Latino Book Awards, which were held at the Instituto Cervantes in New York this summer.

The book, which examines the imaging of Los Angeles as depicted in Latina/o narratives and film, placed in the category of best history/political book written in English.

First place was given to "No Word For Welcome: The Mexican Village Faces the Global Economy," by Wendy Call.
